Washington County Government invites residents and visitors to join them on Saturday, July 4 for Washington County’s 250th Anniversary Celebration at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center.
The Ag Center is located at 7313 Sharpsburg Pike in Boonsboro.
This free, family-friendly event will commemorate 250 years of Washington County history with live entertainment, historical displays, family activities, food vendors, a community ceremony, drone show, and fireworks.
Gates open at 12:00 noon and activities will continue throughout the day.
The day’s entertainment lineup includes:

The Commissioners’ ceremony at 7 p.m. will serve as the centerpiece of the celebration, recognizing Washington County’s rich history, honoring the generations who built our community, and looking ahead to the future.
Families will find plenty to enjoy in the Kid Zone, featuring activities throughout the afternoon including:

— Face Painting, Balloon Twisting, 2-6 p.m.

Free shuttles, parking
To help make the event accessible to everyone, free shuttle transportation will be available courtesy of Washington County Transit and Middletown Valley Bank. Shuttle service will operate throughout the day from the Washington County Transit Transfer Station, located at 123 W. Franklin Street in Hagerstown, directly to the Agricultural Education Center.
Additional event parking and shuttle service will also be available from the Fairplay Volunteer Fire Company beginning at 3 p.m.
Attendees should note that parking is strictly prohibited along Sharpsburg Pike.
For the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and emergency responders, no roadside parking will be permitted. Visitors are encouraged to use designated event parking areas or take advantage of the free shuttle services available throughout the day.
The Commissioners encourage all residents to attend this historic gathering and take part in a once-in-a-generation celebration marking Washington County’s founding in 1776. The celebration will conclude with a spectacular drone show and fireworks display.
Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and spend the day enjoying the entertainment, exhibits, vendors, activities, and special programming planned for this historic celebration.
The evening will culminate in a drone show followed by a fireworks display beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The drone show is proudly sponsored by Volvo, which is celebrating 65 years of manufacturing in Washington County.
The fireworks display is offered in partnership with The Arc of Washington County.
