Viola “Vi” Ruth Schetrompf

Viola “Vi” Ruth (Hoopengardner) Schetrompf, 80 years old, 9 months, 20 days, passed away at her primary residence on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Born Monday, September 17, 1945, to the late Roy (Patsy) and Grace (Wigfield) Hoopengardner. Viola was a widow of Arlie “Dan” Schetrompf. They were married on Friday, July 31, 1964.

Viola worked for many years as a seamstress for London Fog in Hancock, Md. She was also a cashier/stocker at Save-A-Lot in Hancock, Md. She enjoyed being a homemaker, spoiling her husband and taking care of family. Viola was an excellent wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her two daughters Ruthann True (Jeff), Lindy Morris (George); one son, Danny Lynn Schetrompf; one sister, Alverda Schetrompf; sisters-in-law, Shirley Hoopengardner, Norma “Sally” Payne and Arlene Lemmert; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded by one sister, Emma Teresa O’Neil; two brothers, Raymond Hoopengardner and Alva Hoopengardner; two nephews, Gary Hoopengardner and Edward O’Neil and son-in-law Leslie Golden III.

Funeral service was held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Hancock Assembly of God, 431 N Pennsylvania Ave, Hancock, MD 21750. Pastor Don Preston officiated. Burial followed at Buck Valley Methodist Church Cemetery, 6600 Buck Valley Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267.
