Main Street gas line project will impact traffic flow

by Geoff Fox

A Columbia Gas project along East Main Street will be tying up traffic for a couple more weeks as they install a new gas line between 112 East Main Street to 170 East Main Street

The project is only that stretch of Main Street and should run four to five weeks.

Columbia Gas of Maryland is laying new gas lines along Main Street in the area between 112 East Main and 170 East Main. To help with traffic control, they are using these red and yellow lights with flags.

Town Manager Mike Faith said Columbia Gas had to pull permits from the state which would have them working until 3 p.m., however the town granted the gas company an extra two hours to get the project done quicker.

Faith said they’re trying to get the line put in and done as quick as possible.

To help with traffic, instead of having a person turning a stop sign, Columbia is using a red and yellow light where the flag is down on red and up for yellow.
