Panther softball goes 1-2 in last week

The Hancock Panthers softball team outscored their opponents 29-26 in three games last week, but only won one game in that stretch.

The Panthers started the week off with a 5-1 loss at Northern Garrett last Monday, April 27.

No stats were available on MaxPreps for that game.

Three days later, the Panthers hosted Forbes Road and picked up an 11-5 win behind seven strong innings from Brooklyn McCusker.

McCusker went the distance, only throwing 68 pitches, giving up three runs on eight hits and striking out four.

She also helped her own cause going 4-4 with two doubles, four RBI, and scoring a run.

Kaydence Gaither pitched in a 2-3 night with a double, two RBI, scoring four runs, and a hit by pitch.

Makayla Sexton added a double and an RBI.

On the game, the Panthers had five total stolen bases coming from McCusker, Sexton, Makensie Boyer, and Sydney True who had two.

In the Panthers next to last game of the season, they traveled down I-70 to Clear Spring and lost a slugfest heartbreaker.
Tied 17 all going into the bottom of the seventh, the Blazers walked it off, scoring a run with two outs in the seventh to give Clear Spring the 18-17 win.

Boyer went 2-2 with a home run, five RBI, three runs, three walks, and a hit by pitch.

Gaither went 3-5 with two RBI, scored a run, and was hit by a pitch.

Kaybree Souders and Sexton had stolen bases for the Panthers.

Taylor Weller went 6.2 innings giving up eight earned runs on 14 hits with five strike outs.

The Panthers final game of the year was Monday, May 4, at Southern Fulton.
