Panthers take to the track at Fort Hill

The Hancock Panthers Track team traveled to Fort Hill last Friday, April 24, to participate in an eight-team meet with schools from Allegany, Frederick, and Washington Counties, and a team from West Virginia.

Senior Landyn Clark had three top five finishes taking second in the triple jump, third in the long jump, and tied for third in the high jump.

Sophomore Leland Clark placed seventh in the discus and freshman Xia Hixon won her heat and achieved a personal best in the 200 meter race.

“I’m so proud of all our student-athletes on the Track team for the effort that they show,” Coach Greg Cartrette said. “No matter what meet we travel to, they give everything they have and are having fun doing.”

The Panthers’ next meet will be tomorrow, Thursday, April 30, at the Small School CMC Championships for Washington and Frederick Counties in Smithsburg.
