The Hancock Panthers baseball team saw the highs and lows in a pair of home games last week as they picked up their second win of the year against Turkeyfoot Valley Area, but tasted defeat against Fort Hill.
The Panthers picked up win number two last Monday, April 13, at home against the Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams 14-4.
In the win, the Panthers racked up 14 runs on 11 hits, scoring in all five innings. The Panthers were up 12-4 going into the bottom of the fifth, however they scored two runs to bring the 10-run rule into play to end the game.
Ethan Hill was the man for the Panthers going 1-3 with a two-run home run, two for two in stolen base attempts, and picking up the win throwing 2.2 innings on the mound with four strike outs.
Panther baserunners were five for five in stolen base attempts. Along with Hill’s two, Bailei Ray added two and Tyler Clingerman added another.
The high from the win against the Rams wasn’t long as the Fort Hill Sentinels blanked the Panthers 16-0 three days later on April 16.
The Panthers were only able to get on base five times with two hits, two walks, and a hit by pitch, but couldn’t push a run across the plate.
No stats were available on the game.
The Panthers had a game against St. James this past Monday, April 20, at Meritus Park in Hagerstown, at Southern Garrett on Friday, April 24, and the Heavy Hitters at Meritus event on Saturday, April 25, at Meritus Park in Hagerstown.
