Regional non-profit Wild Potomac is organizing an event series in Hancock that is dedicated to connecting with the trees that are local to the ecosystem.
The first of four events is a community tree planting on Saturday, April 18, at 10 a.m. in Widmeyer Park.
The tree planting will focus on expanding the native and food-producing trees residents of Hancock have access to, and will include samples of free foods and a talk by a local gardener who is putting together a beginner’s guide to see saving.
The event will be a great way to spend time with other folks in the community and learn new skills around tree planting and care.
Future events in the series include a tree identification walk, a tree care/maintenance event, and a tree foods processing event.
Events are geared towards people of all ages and are free to attend.
