A shooting on Whispering Winds Road has left a 43-year-old Hancock man dead and police looking for answers.
On Saturday, February 21, just after 9:30 p.m., deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Hancock Police Department responded to the 400 block of Whispering Winds Road for a reported shooting.
When police arrived, deputies located a 43-year-old male, later identified as Brian Keith Lavoie, Jr., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Life-saving measures were initiated, and Lavoie was transported to Meritus Medica Center for treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Lavoie was later pronounced deceased.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was an isolated incident and there was no known threat to the public.
The case is still being investigated and when available, the Sheriff’s Office will release more information.
The Hancock News reached out Monday afternoon to the Sheriff’s Department regarding the shooter and their relationship to the victim, however Sgt. Carly Hose, Public Information Officer for the Sheriff’s Department, told the News they wouldn’t release any information other than what has already been shared.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Detective Andrew Koontz at 240-313-2186.
