Marshall Jake “Pap” Stotler

1937-2026

Marshall Jake “Pap” Stotler, age 88, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.

Born October 8, 1937 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Delvie and Nellie Puffinberger Stotler.

He attended schools in Morgan County.

Marshall served with the United States Army from September 13, 1961 until his honorable discharge on February 25, 1964 at the rank of PFC and was awarded the Marksman Rifle Badge.

Pap worked as a welder with Berkeley Springs Metal Works and Commercial Sheering.

He enjoyed farming and taking care of animals.

Pap is survived by his children, Pamela Lea Mason (Buster) and M. Todd Stotler (Kelle), all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one sister, Katie Henry of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one brother-in-law, Bob Stotler of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Matthew Mason (Tia), Joshua Mason (Shania), Dylan Mason (Paige), Jacob Stotler (Stacey), Harlie Stotler (Kevin) and Parker Stotler; nine great grandchildren, Lilly, Jayden, Brie, Jaxston, Brian, Braxton, Brilie, Chloe and Kaelie and several nieces and nephews and his beloved grand doggie “Red”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Rosie Lee Crouse Stotler on April 11, 2010 and one sister, Ginny Stotler. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Zachary Byrne officiating and military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard.

Private burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pap’s name may be made directly to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
