1939-2026
Catherine Ann Shoemaker, 86, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at her home.
Born August 29, 1939, she was the daughter of Herbert and Irene Souders Waugh.
Catherine was a high school graduate.
She worked at London Fog as a seamstress, Valley View Nursing Home and War Memorial Hospital as a cook.
She loved her grandchildren, sewing and thrift store shopping.
She is survived by her son, Stanley Eugene Shoemaker, Jr. (Brenda) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., three grandchildren, Joseph W. Shoemaker (Mandi) of Keyser, W.Va., Erin R. Miller and Kelly L. Wertman (George), both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., eight great grandchildren, Ethan Wolinski, Khia Wolinski, Jaelyn Burton, D.J. Williams, Nikki Williams, Frankie Williams, Jacob Shoemaker and Eli Shoemaker, and her best friend, Danny Flanary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Eugene Shoemaker, Sr. in 2009, one sister, Betty Unger, and two brothers, Robert Waugh, Sr. and Herbert Waugh, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Jack W. Hiles, Jr. officiating. Private burial will be in Greenway Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the funeral home.
