Richard Jerry Haynes, Sr., age 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Winchester Health and Rehabilitation Center, Winchester, Va.
Born September 11, 1944 in Montgomery County, Md., he was the son of the late Herbert Leroy and Gladys Mae Voight Haynes.
He was a member of Faith in God Chapel in Berkeley Springs.
He graduated from Rockville, Md. public schools and went on to become a home builder.
Richard loved hunting, Nascar racing and football.
He is survived by his children, one son, Richard Jerry Haynes, Jr., (Sharon) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., one daughter, Victoria Louise Bayer (Randall) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., one daughter-in-law, Cher Ellene Haynes, thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Carolyn Fadeley Haynes in 2022, one son, Jeffery Allen Haynes, two sisters, Dixie Monroe and Sylvia Hungerford and one brother, Herbert L. Haynes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Ken Dyar officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Grove Cemetery, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
