Jeanne Audrey George
1923-2026
Jeanne Audrey George, age 102, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born June 5, 1923 in Portland, Ore., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Eileen Doukas.
She was a member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Carney, Md.
Jeanne was a high school graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore, Md.
She loved gardening, reading, crafts, puzzles, quilting and watching wildlife.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Linda Wachter of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Sandra Mason of Waynesboro, Pa., David George of Frankston, Texas, Martha Bradburn of Smithsburg, Md., nine grandchildren, Angela Day, Kristy Day, Timothy Sowers, Samantha Hays, Jason Huntsberry, Katie George, Lori Miller, Gary Wachter, Jr. and Scott Wachter, eleven great-grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney W. George, two sisters, Alice Klar and Mildred Suresch and two sons-in-law, John Day and Gary Wachter, Sr.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 9833 Hartford Road, Carney, Md. with Pastor Ellen B. Krich officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jeanne’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
