Benny Lee Bennett
1935-2025
Benny Lee Bennett, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at WVU Medicine-Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 17, 1935 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Homer and Metha Bohrer Bennett.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Benny served in the U.S. Air Force. He went on to become a nursing aide with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Benny was an avid sports enthusiast and a WVU fan. He also enjoyed high school sports events. Benny loved music, especially country and bluegrass gospel. He enjoyed watching movies.
Benny is survived by a nephew, Dale William McCumbee of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and a niece, Gina Kyne of Hedgesville, W.Va., a great niece, Melissa Parker and her husband, Robert, two great nephews, Michael Kyne, Jr. and Jacob Kyne and two great great nieces, Carly Elaine Parker and Bennett May Kyne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Lou McCumbee and three brothers, Chester Bennett, Bernard “Pats” Bennett and Lewis “Charlie” Bennett.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Ryan Parsons officiating. Burial with graveside military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
