Finalists named in “I Voted” contest; public voting in January will choose student winner

by Geoff Fox

Back in September, the Washington County Board of Elections began their “I Voted” sticker contest for

students in Washington County and the finalists have been announced.

In all, the Board of Elections received 25 submissions before the November 30 deadline and staff has since chosen the eight finalists in four categories – “Future Voter,” Elementary, Middle School, and H

igh School.

“We have some really talented young artists in Washington County,” Election Director Barry Jackson said. “It was so hard to have to choose between them, because it was apparent to us that each student worked hard on them.”

Jackson added the students should be proud of their entries as the board is proud of them.

The public voting the stickers will take place beginning January 5, 2026, through January 23, 2026, with only one vote per category being allowed.

The winning art in each category will be printed into stickers and distributed to voters in Washington County during the 2026 primary and general elections.

One winner has already been determined as there was only one entry in the Middle School category. It will be announced alongside the other winners after the public vote closes.
