1947-2025

James Henry “Jimmy” Percy, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. died on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Care Facility in Kearneysville, W.Va.

Born on July 18, 1947 in Dover, Ohio he was the son of the late Robert Delbert Percy and Betty Jane Hodkinson Percy.

Jimmy was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. He attended schools in Ohio.

James worked as a laborer at Rayloc in Hancock, Md. He served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Sharpshooter Badge, the Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation and First Class Unit Citation. Jimmy also served with the military police.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483 and life member of the Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mildred Louise Yost Percy at home, one son, Dustin Percy and his girlfriend, Jessica, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., his step-mother, June Percy of Lexington, Ky., one half-sister, Theresa Cole of Lexington, Ky., three half-brothers, John Boyle of Hagerstown, Md., Robert Boyle of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Charles Percy of Great Cacapon, W.Va. and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one half-sister, Melody Ruppenthal and one brother Robert Percy.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 6958 Winchester Grade Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Matthew Swope officiating. Burial with graveside military honors provided from the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and also one hour prior to service time at the church.
