Rita Maxine Farris
1937-2025
Rita Maxine Farris, age 88, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 at her daughter’s home and while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born January 14, 1937 in Great Cacapon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late, Elmer Franklin and Hazel Amelia Farris Parlette.
She attended Hope Community Church.
Maxine was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. She was a homemaker to her children and family. Maxine enjoyed cooking, canning, crocheting, hanging with friends, playing bingo and going to Bible study.
Maxine is survived by her children, Beverly Anne Day (Roger) of Great Cacapon, W.Va., Lisa Ellen Fields (Kim) of Farmville, N.C., Rita Renee Harris (Timothy) and Mary Beth Farris, all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., 14 grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca, Jonathan, Natasha, Haleigh, Monica, Elicia, Amanda, Chelsea, Jenzen, Jacob, Timothy, Erick and Breanna, 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Bobby Thomas Farris, one daughter, Sheree Lynn Farris and one brother, George William Parlette.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Pastor Faith Simmons will officiate. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2025 at the funeral home.
