Janice Carol Faith Golden
1950-2025
Janice “Jani” Carol Faith Golden, 75, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2025.
Janice was born on May 29, 1950. She was the daughter of Melvin Edwin Faith and Olive Clem Faith (later Marra).
She attended Berkeley Springs Grade School and Junior High School and graduated from Berkeley Springs High School in 1968. In June 1972, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Radford College in Radford, Va. While teaching, Jani furthered her education, earning a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from West Virginia University in May 1978. She dedicated 39 years to teaching second grade, from 1972 until her retirement in 2011, at North Berkeley and W. Ralph Widmyer Elementary Schools in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Jani was an active parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she served as a choir singer, member and treasurer of the Altar and Rosary Society, CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) teacher, and member of the Alpha Phi State, Eta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society for women educators.
Jani is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Dennis; her loving children, Faith Noel Gurson (Mike) of Berkeley Springs and Dennis “Denny” Golden (Ray) of Falling Waters, W.Va.; her three grandchildren, Michael Corbin Gurson, Holden Gregory Gurson, and Hope Eveline Gurson, all of Berkeley Springs; her stepfather, Joseph “Joe” Marra, Jr. of Berkeley Springs; her siblings, Bonita “Bonnie” Faith Wilcox (Gerry) of Romney, W.Va.; Joseph “Joe” Marra III (Cara) of Ravenswood, W.Va.; Mary Brown (Greg) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jani was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Faith and Olive Marra, and her beloved daughter, Hope.
A private funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., on September 13, 2025, followed by an interment service at Michael Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jani’s honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the St. Vincent de Paul Church Mortgage Fund.
