Preparedness Fair a success

Organizers for the Emergency Preparedness Fair last Saturday, September 6, called it a success.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held an Emergency Preparedness Fair in Widmeyer Park last Saturday morning where folks learned a variety of ways to be ready should an emergency happen. Among those were stopping the bleeding with a tourniquet and packing a wound in courses presented by the Washington County Health Department. The event was hosted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held in Widmeyer Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Those who attended learned how to be prepared for emergencies and disasters, enjoyed free preparedness items and popcorn, and experienced a close-up look at first responder vehicles and equipment.

Children in attendance had fun playing games from the Girl Scouts and teens and adults participated in a hands-on “Stop the Bleed” training conducted by the Washington County Health Department at two demonstrations.
