If you heard sirens and the roar of motorcycles coming from Interstates 68 and 70 last Friday morning, August 15, around 10:30, that was America’s 9/11 Ride roaring past on their memorial ride dedicated to the memory of those who served, protected, lost their lives, and to the volunteers who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
Over 100 motorcycles set out last Friday from Highland Harley Davidson in Somerset, Pennsylvania, just before 7 a.m. before a short break at Rocky Gap State Park. While in Somerset, the bikers visited the Flight 93 Memorial.
Leaving Rocky Gap at 9:45 a.m., the bikers made their way eastward through the Sideling Hill cut and onto Interstate 70 in Hancock.
After going past Hancock, the ride was headed to Hagerstown for lunch and then their final destination for the day the Doubletree Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.

On Saturday, the bikers rode to the Pentagon before heading north to their final destination on Sunday – the World Trade Center in New York City.
Bikers from across the country take part in the ride and their registration fees go to paying for the escorts’ rooms, breakdown crews’ rooms, and funds the college scholarships the America’s 911 Foundation gives out.
The ride is a charity event and donations can be made on their website https://www.americas911ride.org
