Thomas Garner Good, Sr.
1933-2025
Thomas Garner Good, Sr., age 91, of Martinsburg, W.Va. and formerly of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Lorine Encore in Ellicott City, Md. while surrounded by his children.
Born October 14, 1933 in Bowie, Md., he was the son of the late George Beall and Anna Frances Pokorney Good.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Thomas was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School. He served in the United States Army.
Tom worked the railroad during the 1950’s and 1960’s. After the railroad, he became a self-employed painter until his retirement. He was a tractor trailer driver. Thomas drove bus with the RESA Head Start/Pre-K where he was known to his students as “Mr. Rogers.”
He was a member and 4th degree Knight of Columbus of Berkeley Springs Council #12191 and the Holy Name Society.
Thomas enjoyed fishing, gardening, canoeing, crabbing, puzzles, woodworking, tinkering and collecting tractors, watching old western movies and volunteering with his church.
Tom is survived by his children, Deborah Ann Linthicum of Glen Burnie, Md., Thomas Garner Good, Jr. of Martinsburg, W.Va., Mary Ellen Saunders (Craig) of Englewood, Fla. and Laura Josephine Mattern of Hebron, Md., three sisters, Dorothy Koepke of Hedgesville, W.Va., Louise Bromley of Baltimore, Md. and Annabelle Shives of Severn, Md., eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Annie Elizabeth Boswell Good and two brothers, Francis Good and Richard Good.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 67 Liberty Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Rev. Fr. J. Stephen Vallelonga as celebrant. Burial with graveside military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard was in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery. The family received friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. where a rosary was recited at 7 p.m.
