Mary Ruth Barnhart
1952-2025
Mary Ruth Barnhart, age 72, of Needmore, Pa., passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025 at her home.
Born July 3, 1952 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Leonard Brent and Ada Ruth Smith Bishop.
Mary was a graduate of Hancock High School and earned an Associate’s Degree from Zion Bible Institute.
She worked as a bank teller and a restaurant manager at Hardee’s.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church and enjoyed crafting, flowers and crocheting.
She is survived by one stepdaughter, Mary Cromwell of Needmore, Pa. and one stepson, Roger L. Barnhart of Fort Loudon, Pa., one sister, Elaine Bishop Cochran of Hancock, Md., two brothers, Terry Lynn Bishop (Judy) of Hustontown, Pa. and Wayne Eugene Bishop (Donna) of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Palmer Barnhart, three stepchildren, Delores A. Barling, Carol F. Hollinshead and William C. Barnhart and one sister, Debra Ann Iden.
Funeral services was conducted at Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church, 14253 Exline Road, Hancock, Md. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Delmas Bard officiating. Family received friends on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. There will also be a one hour visitation at the church prior to funeral services. Burial will be in Warfordsburg Presbyterian Cemetery in Warfordsburg, Pa.
