Lions overpower Panthers 13-4

GVCS Broadfording’ s Lions took an early lead in varsity baseball play against Hancock’s Panthers on Friday, May 2 and kept building on their momentum to overpower the Panthers 13-4.

Hancock and Broadfording matched scoring for the first two innings, each bringing in two runs in the first and none in the second. But the Lions then roared out into the third inning with five runs. Hancock added a run of their own and held Broadfording to a single run in the fourth. The fifth inning saw the Lions rally again, and the Panthers weren’t able to muster their power back.

Hancock turned nine hits into their four runs, while Broadfording capitalized on 16 hits during the game.

Senior Blair Ray led Hancock’ s scoring with two runs, with Tyler Clingerman and Hayden McCarty contributing a run each.

Friday’s game closed out the spring season for Hancock, which ended the season with a record of 4-10. The Panthers made the most of play on their home field, winning three of their four games in Hancock.
