Lady Panthers split recent contests

Hancock’s girls varsity softball team narrowly missed a victory over Berkeley Springs but dominated Forbes Road in recent play on the field.

The Indians topped Hancock 8-7 with a late game rally on April 14 as they played on the Panther field.

The Lady Panthers had a strong three-run lead heading into the sixth inning, but the Tribe put four runs on the scoreboard in a flurry of scoring. Hancock met the rally with a run in the sixth and another in the seventh, but could not come up with a final run to end the neck in neck contest.

Madi Trumpower and Kayde Gaither led the Panther scoring with two runs each while Gaither and Taylor Weller led hitting action for Hancock. Gaither earned a Panther home run against the Indians.

Panthers top Cardinals 10-5

The Lady Panthers continued their scoring momentum on April 15 against Forbes Road, pouring on five runs in the second inning and four more in the fifth to make a lead the Cardinals were unable to catch.

Madison Booth and Alyssa Keefer each earned two hits and Sydney True, Makayla Sexton and Brianna McCusker each connected for a Hancock hit.

Hancock will continue their play against the Martinsburg Bulldogs tonight, April 23 and against Williamsport on April 24.
