Hancock’s varsity baseball team connected with pitches from the Mountain Ridge Miners last Thursday, April 3, earning eight hits and three runs to top the Miners 3-1. Senior Blaire Ray on the mound for Hancock made it difficult for the Miners to add points to their scorecard.
Senior Shawn Thomas, junior Ethan Hill and sophomore Chandler Buskirk earned Hancock’s runs.
The Panthers on Monday continued their wins against the Berkeley Springs Indians, topping the Tribe 7-2.
Hancock got on the scoreboard in the first inning against Berkeley Springs and
kept adding to the board, earning 13 hits against two pitchers.
It took the Indians until the fifth inning to respond with a run, but the Panther lead had already been solidified.
Earning runs for Hancock were senior Shawn Thomas, sophomore Logan Hendershot, senior Blaire Ray and sophomore Aden Clingerman.
Hancock heads into this week’s games 4-2 for the season. They’ll meet up with Fort Hill tonight, April 9 and then faces off against Turkeyfoot Valley Area on Friday, April 11.
