Panther boys 2-0 as season begins

The Hancock Panther boys’ varsity baseball team has roared into the 2025 season with two wins, downing Calvary Christian Academy 12-0 and beating Berkeley Springs 7-3.

Panther bats connected against the Calvary Eagles on Friday, March 21, pounding in runs in the second and third innings, closing out the game with a mercy ruling after Calvary failed to respond with runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Junior Ethan Hill topped the Panther batting with three hits. Sophomores Logan Hendershot and Chandler Buskirk each earned two RBIs. Earning runs for the Panthers were junior Tyler Clingerman, senior Shawn Thomas, junior Ethan Hill, senior Hayden McCarty, freshman Bailei Ray, senior Blaire Ray, Buskirk and sophomore Aden Clingerman.

Logan Hendershot was on the mound for Hancock.

Hancock added another win on Monday, March 24 against the Indians, converting six hits to seven runs by the seventh inning.

Senior Blaire Ray and sophomore Chandler Buskirk led hitting for the Panthers, with two hits each. Blaire Ray collected three runs to lead the Panthers across home plate.

Hancock took the win with consistent scoring throughout the game, pulling in runs in all but the fifth inning as the Indians struggled to put anything on the scoreboard until the fifth.

The Panther boys will face off against Northern Garrett today, Wednesday, March 26 and will travel to Shanksville on Friday, March 28. They’ll play at McConnellsburg next Monday at 6 p.m.
