Gary Eugene Keefer, Sr.
1941-2025
Gary Eugene Keefer Sr. 83 of Hancock, Md., passed away March 2, 2025, at Berkeley Springs Health Care in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born March 19, 1941, in Hancock Md., he was the son of the late Roy Martin Keefer and Catherine Virginia Thompson Brake.
Gary worked for Hinckle’s Grocery for thirteen years as a meat cutter, after which he worked for the Maryland State Highway Administration for thirty-six years.
He is survived by his wife of fifty eight years, Nancy L. Thompson Keefer; one sister, Barbara Keefer; one daughter, Brenda Lee Dool (Tony) of Hancock; two sons, Gary Eugene Keefer, Jr. (Kim) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Richard Todd Keefer (Missy) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one sister-in-law, Linda Smith (Arthur) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two bonus daughters Carol Ann Trail of Hagerstown, Md., and Chris Weller of Hancock, Md. He is also survived by seven grandchildren Gary L. Keefer (Beth) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Kevin Keefer of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Brittany Knable (Billy) of Hagerstown, Md., BJ Gearhart of Hancock, Md., Lynette Stotler (Andrew) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Sarah Spielman (Brady) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Brandon Keefer (Kaylee) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; four bonus grandchildren Kenny Trail, Beth Fischer, Michele Sullivan, BJ Weller.
He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, Alyssa Keefer (Mason), Jenna Keefer, Remington Stotler, Gabriella Knable, Jackie Keefer, Stella Spielman, Charley Keefer, Caleb Knable, Lincoln Spielman, Addison Knable. He is also survived by seventeen bonus Great-Grandchildren Dominik Clark, Rilynn Clark, Dylynn Clark, Teirnann Clark, Brandon Fischer, Brian Sullivan, Kylee Sullivan, Marlee Sullivan, Charlee Sullivan, Taylor Weller, Mya Weller, Blanden Trail, Charlie Trail, Isabella Trail, John Trail, Kaidence Trail, Ayrhianna Trail; many nieces and nephews and cousins; four very very special nieces and nephews who he called his children, Cathy Baker, Jamie Carr, Jimmy Trail and Michael Trail.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Mary Lou Thompson Trail; one infant brother and one son-in-law, Boyd Gearhart, Sr.
Per his wishes there will be no viewing, a gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, March 13 from 4-7 p.m. at the Hancock American Legion, 240 E. Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750.
