Bruce Jerome Swain
1965-2025
Bruce Jerome Swain, born June 23, 1965, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph W. and Ruby I. Swain, and two brothers, Timothy J. Swain and Barry Hull.
He is survived by one sister, Shelly K. Swain of Martinsburg, W.Va. and one brother, Davie Helman of Hancock, Md. He is also survived by his Uncle Steve Swain of Pectonville, Md.
Bruce graduated from Hancock High School in 1983 and went into the U.S. Marine Corps Band for twenty years, where he played trombone and conducted. After retirement from the military, he came back to the Hancock area and took care of his parents until their deaths in 2019 and 2020.
He was a lifelong member of the Stone Bridge Church, where he led the singing as well.
Bruce had a witty, wonderful sense of humor, and kept his Mom and sister, Shelly, laughing with funny imitations of various TV personalities, especially Julia Child, the famous chef.
He had a poodle named Icy and a cat named Spotty, both of whom he loved dearly.
Bruce will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 11 a.m., with one hour visitation one hour prior at the Stone Bridge Church, 14904 Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock, Md.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce’s name can be made to Stone Bridge Church or the Tri-State Honor Guard. Arrangements were entrusted to Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750.
