1939-2025

Robert “Bob” Affeldt, age 85, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born July 18, 1939 in Ferndale, Md., he was the son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth Pearson Nevaker.

He was a Christian.

Bob was a high school graduate. He served with the United States Army until his honorable discharge and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal with Silver Clasp, National Defense Service Medal, Expert Badge Rifle, Expert Badge Carbine, Parachute Badge, Driver Mechanic Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Meritorious Service Medal and French Army Parachute Badge.

Bob worked as a delivery driver for Supreme Concrete Block in Winchester, Va. and delivered pool water with Berkeley Springs Water Company.

He was a member of the Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 and Risinger-Stotler Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4019.

Bob enjoyed bowling, doing crossword puzzles, smoking his cigars and shopping at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet.

Bob is survived by his children, Raymond “Butch” Affeldt of Glen Burnie, Md., Frank Affeldt of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Thomas Affeldt of Clearwater, Fla., Kenny Davis of Annapolis, Md. and Laura Affeldt of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., one sister, Janice Hoobler of Baltimore, Md., one brother, Donald “Butch” Nevaker of Millersville, Md., 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years Sandra Lee Perry Affeldt and five other siblings.

Celebration of Life Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Risinger-Stotler VFW #4019, 4490 Valley Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Pastor Dick Voorhaar will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the Tri-State Honor Guard, 527 N. Washington Street, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
