Kenneth Eugene Merchant, Sr.
1950-2025
Kenneth Eugene Merchant, Sr., age 74, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025 at his home.
Born July 5, 1950 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Herbert Thornton and Annie Elizabeth Allen Merchant.
Kenneth attended Morgan County schools.
He worked in construction as a builder.
He was a Christian and was a member of Faith In God Chapel.
Kenneth loved collecting scrap metal, cans and quarters.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Clay Merchant, at home, one daughter, Tinia Merchant, Altoona, Pa., three sons, Kenneth “Lil Kenny” Merchant II (Sky), Kevin Andrew Merchant (Angela) and Kyle Andrew Merchant, all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., one sister, Alice Jean McCulloh, Mercersburg, Pa., one brother, Herbert Thornton Merchant, Jr., Berkeley Springs, W.Va., ten grandchildren, Brooke, Paige, Olivia, Rylee, Tyler, Mason, Allen, Jacob, Jessie and Ally. He also leaves behind his fur babies, Binx and Bella and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Gail Lynn Merchant Croston, five sisters, Mary Elizabeth Roach, Portia Rico Shives, Anna Mae Merchant, Emma May Merchant and Dorothy Lee Merchant, and three brothers, Vernon Ernest Merchant, Charles Edward Merchant and Glen Cleo Merchant.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 7 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Dave Kerns officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1-3 & 5-7 p.m. prior to service time.
