Carroll E. Luttrell
1944-2025
Carroll E. Luttrell, age 80, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at his home.
Carroll was born on December 20, 1944 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. He was the son of Elber C. Luttrell and Dortha M. Fritzman Luttrell and the oldest of three children.
Carroll began his young working career as a teen at the Park View Inn as a bell hop. Later he worked for John Barker at the Exxon Station. After that he was employed by Little Miss Canning Company and Michael Brothers Builder & Construction. Later he worked for CSI Construction Company in the Washington, D.C. area for about 20 years, the Federal Government Department of Defense, Department of the Navy until retiring. He took a year off and came back home to CNB, retiring in 2010.
He was a 52 year member of the Alderton-Dawson Sons of the American Legion Squadron # 60 and a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483.
His favorite thing was working on the yard and mowing. Carroll loved helping the SAL and veterans as well as being a community helper. He had two loving cats, Blue and Moses.
Carroll and his beloved wife, Victoria just recently celebrated their 60 year anniversary on December 25, 2024.
Surviving Carroll are his wife, Victoria and their two daughters, Lisa Luttrell and life partner Rick Smeltzer and stepgranddaughters, Autumn Smeltzer and Briella Smeltzer and his youngest daughter Lora L. Tolley and spouse, Russell Tolley and grandson, Carter Tolley and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Tolley. He is also survived by one sister, Ann Schoenadel and her spouse, Jack, a nephew, Brian Fink and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry “Moe” Luttrell, one nephew, Dee Fink and step-father, Ray B. Widmyer. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. at 2 p.m. Pastor Bill Swope will officiate. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m on Saturday. Burial will be private.
