Richard Ward
1937-2025
Richard (Richie) Ward passed away at home on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born in Buck Valley, Pa. on Friday, August 6, 1937, he was the son of the late Charles and Ruie Ward.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn Ward, Claude Ward, Dane Ward, Roger Ward and two sisters, Emma Ward and Beatrice Carnell.
Richie was a loving husband and is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Rosalie C (Moats) Ward and his Beloved Pet – Sherry. He is also survived by sisters, Delma Carnell, Helen Barnhart and Mary Jean Young. While having no children of his own, he was a Special Uncle to his many nephews and nieces and their children.
He was a friend to many people, including his everyday acquaintances at AC&T, his hunting and fishing companions. He especially had many fond memories of hunting at the Buck Valley, Pa. family farm and his trips to White Oak Plantation, Ala.
Richie was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed Nascar and missed his beloved #3. He retired from General Motors after over thirty years of service.
Richard served his country from 1956 to 1960 in the U.S. Air Force.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750. Pastor Jeff Hawbaker officiated. Interment followed the service at Stone Bridge Church, 14904 Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock, MD 21750.
