Hancock man pleads to role in 2020 drug death

William Allen Johnson, Jr., 32, of Hancock pled No Contest in Franklin County, Pa. Court of Common Pleas to several charges related to a drug overdose death in 2020.

According to online court records, on December 4, 2024, Johnson entered a plea of No Contest to drug delivery resulting in death, a felony; manufacture, delivery or possession with the intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled deadly substance, a felony; involuntary manslaughter and recklessly endangering another person.

According to Pennsylvania State Trooper J. Hahn,  on December 20, 2020, a 36-year-old male was found deceased inside the master bedroom of his residence of an apparent drug overdose.

During a hearing in the case on December 4, 2024, Johnson entered his pleas to the crimes and was sentenced by Judge Angela R. Krom.

Judge Krom sentenced Johnson to 11 months and 15 days to 23 months in prison for the felony drug manufacture/delivery charge, along with five years of probation for that offence.

Judge Krom also sentenced Johnson to a minimum of 11 months and 15 days to 23 months in prison for the involuntary manslaughter charge.

Johnson’s probation will be served consecutive to his prison term, and the two prison terms will be served concurrently. Johnson must also pay $3,674 in court costs and fees.
