Roberta Anne Golden
1943-2024
Roberta Anne Golden, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at her home in Warfordsburg, Pa.
Born, Friday, December 24, 1943, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Robert Carl and Ida Webster Golden.
Roberta is survived by her two brothers, Donald (wife Helen) and Thomas (wife Marleen) all of Warfordsburg. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
Roberta graduated from Southern Fulton High School in 1961, followed by the Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, Md. in 1965. She went on to receive her BS in Nursing from the Johns Hopkins University in 1976. Roberta worked as a Registered Nurse throughout many years of her professional life in the Baltimore/Washington area. Roberta moved back to Warfordsburg in 1993 and worked at War Memorial Hospital in several capacities. She was then offered a position with Home Instead Senior Care as a Patient Care Coordinator for Fulton County and worked with them until her retirement in 2014 after celebrating fifty years of nursing.
Roberta was a life-long member of the Warfordsburg United Methodist Church, also attending the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, and Rehobeth United Methodist Church.
She loved her home and enjoyed and took pride in her yard, creating new flower gardens. Her hobbies included working on sewing projects, making quilts, crocheting afghans, needlepoint, cross-stitch and other crafts in her spare time.
Roberta also looked forward to her vacations. Branson, Mo. was one of her favorite side trips. She also had a very memorable two-week trip to Alaska in 2009. She loved going to shows to see her favorite singer, Daniel O’Donnell. Many of Roberta’s retirement hours were spent attending the Warfordsburg Senior Center activities as well as trips with the Hancock Red Hatters.
The family received friends on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750. Funeral service was held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with one hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor Frank Kocek officiated. Burial followed at Pleasant Ridge Brethren Church cemetery, 2507 Pleasant Ridge Road, Needmore, PA 17238.
