Zona H. Apple
1927-2024
Zona H. Apple, age 97, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, November 15, 2024 at her home.
Born August 10, 1927 in Okonoko, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Harriet Rannells Moreland.
She was a lifelong Christian and member of Wesleyan Chapel.
Zona was a 1944 graduate from Paw Paw High School.
She worked for Morgan County schools and retired as a custodian.
She enjoyed canning, reading, gardening and her many dogs.
Zona is survived by her daughter, Iris Jeanne Songer, a son, Joe Farris, two grandchildren, Erica Gunnoe and Jessica Songer Losh (Dan), two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Franklin Apple, Sr., one son, Willard Franklin Apple II, four sisters, Mabel Bain, Glendola Price, Verona Reel, Aileen Eaton and four brothers, Paul Moreland, Fleming Moreland, Chester Moreland and Forrest Moreland.
Graveside services were conducted at 1p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, 40 Jason Haines Road, Points, W.Va.
The family would like to thank her Home Instead caregivers, nephew, Gary Moreland, niece, Jeannie Wilson, friend, Jean Foreback and other devoted friends for their loving care.
