Washington County voters bucked the trend of Maryland voters who backed Vice President Kamala Harris by 61%. County voters flipped that script, casting 60.6% of their ballots for Donald Trump in the 2024 General Election. The U.S. split the difference, narrowly electing Trump to a second term in office.

In Washington County, voters backed former governor Larry Hogan for a seat in the U.S. Senate with 65.5% of the vote but statewide, Democrat Angela Alsobrooks prevailed and earned that seat with 53% of Maryland votes. Hogan pulled in 44.3% of the state ballot count.

Democrat April McClain Delaney topped Republican Neil Parrott in their race for the U.S. House of Representatives representing the 6th congressional district. Across the district, Delaney pulled in 52% of the vote to Parrott’s 48%. In Washington County, Parrott secured 61.5% of the vote.

Washington County voters elected Kirk C. Downey as Judge of the Circuit Court for Washington County with 51,484 votes.

Matthew Fader was elected as Justice for the Supreme Court of Maryland, Circuit 3 with 46,611 votes. Anne Albright, Kevin Arthur and Andrea Leahy were all elected as judges to the Appellate Court of Maryland At Large, each with more than 83% of the vote in their respective races.

In the race for Washington County’s Board of Education, the top vote-getters in the race for four seats on seven-member board were Charles A. Burkett (26,575 votes), Ashley McCusker (26,466 votes), Victoria Beachley (26,342 votes) and April Ann Zent- meyer (25,471).

Zentmeyer was the only incumbent to survive the challenging election as her colleagues Melissa Williams, Stan Stouffer and Pieter Bickford lost their reelection bids.
