Hancock Little League President Brandon Utermoehlen, League Vice President Chris Leasure and Lee Fleming began the work of tearing out the insides of the Gerber Field concession stand and siding off the press box on Friday morning, November 8.
The work continued through the weekend to expand the press box to the width of the concession stand’s roof, install a new tin roof entirely, add a new security door for both the stand and box, and a new commercial cooking unit. The interior drop ceiling in the concession stand was taken out as well.
Utermoehlen said the building was basically getting a facelift. The concrete building will remain, but it will get a fresh coat of paint which will match the one at the Kirkwood Park fields.
When he took over, Utermoehlen said he wanted to reinvest the money from the league back into the league and not just sit on the money. During the May town meeting, officials unanimously approved to contribute up to $15,000 to fix the concession stand.
