Panthers football team finishes the season fifth in the county

by Lisa Schauer

Hancock Middle Senior High School’s 2024 varsity football team finished the season ranked fifth in Washington County, besting South Hagerstown and Smithsburg high schools in the rankings. Boonsboro High School came out on top.

The Panthers were shut out 0-50 by the third-ranked Blazers in a conference game at Clear Spring High School on Friday, November 1.

The loss followed a tumultuous decision by Hancock school and athletic officials not to have the Panthers participate in post-season play.

Hancock High School’s varsity football team is ranked 222 in the state, ending their 2024 season 3-6 overall.
