Dr. Roger W. Akers, DC unexpectedly passed away on September 29, 2024 at Sipes Mill, Pa.
He was born June 17, 1944. Roger graduated from Southern Fulton High School in 1962, then served 4 years in the United States Navy as a corpsman.
Following his Naval Service Roger graduated from Chiropractic School, becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine. Eventually he opened his own chiropractic office along with his companion, Sandra Henning, in Santa Monica, Calif. He and Sandra owned and operated the office from 1977 to 1995. Upon retiring, Roger and Sandy moved to New Mexico, purchasing a ranch where they raised llamas. They would spend their summers in New Mexico on the ranch and their winters in Key West, Fla., where they owned and maintained several rental properties. Beginning in 2019, Roger and Sandy began renovating and restoring the family farm on Palmer Road in Sipes Mill.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Max Akers, his sister, Christine Akers, and his maternal grandparents, F. E. and Mary Palmer.
He is survived by his Companion of over 50 years, Sandra Henning, his mother Hazel Palmer Akers Clevenger, his sister Ruth Ann Close, his niece, Melette Fisher Patterson and his nephew, Aaron T. Close.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, October the 20th, 2024 on the family farm at Sipes Mill, Pa.
Burial will be private.
