Seniors on the varsity volleyball team were recognized at Hancock Middle Senior High School in a heart-warming ceremony prior to their match against Hyndman Charter School on Tuesday, October 22.
The team’s four seniors were escorted onto the court by family members, where their messages of grit and gratitude were read, and they were presented with flowers and signs.
Seniors recognized included Susan Hogbin, Alyssa Keefer, Payton Mosier, and Jenna Wells.
The Lady Panthers went on to win their match against Hyndman 3-0 that night.
After a loss to Berkeley Springs the following night, the Lady Panthers finished their season 11-4.
“We’ve never had a record like this before. It’ s been such a great ride,” said head coach Christi Mosier.
Back for her second-year coaching, Mosier, a 2000 graduate of Hancock High School, played volleyball all four years, and continues to play volleyball in an adult league. Daughter Payton is team captain, along with Jenna Wells.
“This group of girls is highly talented, and positive. They bring 100 percent. They respect each other, and we have fun,” said Mosier.
“Don’t count us out for the playoffs,” said Mosier, who vows to return next year
