Robert “Bob” C. Corbett
1932-2024
Robert “Bob” C. Corbett, 91, of Hancock, Maryland went to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2024, under the care of Blue Ridge Hospice, Winchester, Va. Born on November, 26, 1932 in Hancock, Maryland he was the son of the late Lorenza Corbett and Viola (Jackson) Corbett. Bob was also proceeded in death by his loving wife, Donna Jean (Apple) Corbett, four brothers and two sisters.
Bob was a 1950 graduate of Hancock High School. He was a life member of Hancock United Methodist Church where he served faithfully for many years as a Sunday school teacher, Methodist Men, choir member and various committees. He served in the United States Army, Fort Hood, Texas. Bob was the longtime manager of the former H-P store in Hancock. He retired from the Maryland Correctional Institute, Hagerstown, Maryland.
In school Bob excelled in competitive sports including playing for his high school teams in baseball, soccer and basketball. After graduation he continued to play baseball and softball. Bob was dedicated to his family. He would almost never miss an athletic event, choral concert or family celebration where he could show his support for his family. Bob shared his love of sports with his family and friends, especially his love for the Maryland Terrapins and Baltimore Orioles.
Bob is survived by sisters, Delores Corbett of Washington, D.C., Vivian (Corbett) Smith of Hagerstown, Maryland, and Dianne Corbett Prather Myers of Cape Coral, Florida, sister in law, Sylvia (Apple) Schetrompf of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., his son R. Wayne Corbett and his wife Paula Corbett of Winchester, Va. Surviving grandchildren are, Ashley (Corbett) Sutphin and husband Timothy, Logan Corbett and Krystle, and Spencer Corbett, all of Winchester, Va., five great grandchildren, Clayton Sutphin, Audrey Sutphin, Lillian Sutphin, Brooks Sutphin, Silas Corbett along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Hancock United Methodist Church, Monday October 21 from 5-7 p.m. A service will be held at Hancock United Methodist Church, Tuesday, October 22 at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hancock United Methodist Church, 170 W. Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750 and Blue Ridge Hospice 333 W. Cork Street #405, Winchester, VA 22601.
