John Wesley True
1935-2024
John Wesley True, 89, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill, Pa.
Born March 5, 1935, he was the son of the late Leroy F. True and Dorothy Corbett, and the husband of Gretchen Simone True whom he married on June 7, 1956.
John worked at Esskay Meat Packing Company for over thirty years as well as the Washington County Roads Department for over twenty years.
He was a graduate of Hancock High School class of 1953.
John was a member of Webster B. Harrison American Legion Post 26, Tonoloway Rod and Gun Club, James W. Bowers Lodge #173 AF + AM, Cumberland Scottish Rite 32°, and Orchard Ridge Church of God.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and yard work.
John is survived by one son Jay True, Greencastle, Pa.; one daughter, Teresa Hess, Hancock, Md.; one sister, Irene Little; two brothers, Doug True and William (Bun) True; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by one son, John Philip True and one brother, James W. (Jim) True.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
