James Allan Miller 1947-2024 James “Jim” Allan Miller, 76, of Hancock, Md., passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, Md.

Born December 25, 1947, he was the son of the late James Isaac Miller and Doris Jean (Houser) Miller, who preceded him in death.

Jim attended Clear Spring High School. He was employed with Corning Glass Works in Greencastle, Pa. and then Rayloc in Hancock, retiring in 2008 after 32 years.

He loved music, especially classic country, and was a talented drummer for many local bands including Larry Murphy and the Drifters, Desperados, and Silver Eagle Band.

He is survived by four daughters Tracy Unger, her husband Darrin; Kelly Kemp, her husband Kenny; Tamara Hoffman, her husband Brad all of Hancock and Virginia Schultz, her husband Joe of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three sisters Linda Moser, Nancy Secrest, Kathy Chaney and one brother, Gary Miller.

Married for 47 years and thought of everyday since her death in 2017, Jim is together again with his loving wife Betty Lou. The love that they knew is living again.

In addition to his family, Jim loved a clean car, weight lifting, his sweet tea and ginger ale, and classic TV shows. He never hesitated to help his family. His consideration, thoughtfulness and sense of humor will truly be missed.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Hancock Grace Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Rodney Truax officiating. Interment will be private and at a later date.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Doey’s House for the care and compassion given to Jim in his last days.
