Vivian Leray (Crouse) Hinckle
1924-2024
Vivian Leray Hinckle (née Crouse), aged 99, passed away on July 20, 2024, in Fort Pierce, Fla.
Born on September 21, 1924, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was a revered figure in her community and beloved by many. Vivian was renowned for her warmth and generosity, traits that made her a central figure in her family and community.
She was a master baker and cake decorator who not only created beautiful works of culinary art but also contributed to the field by developing a curriculum and teaching vocational skills. Her love for baking was paralleled by her joy in hosting big family dinners, ensuring that her home was a welcoming place for gathering and celebrating. She spent decades making her home and community places that enriched the lives of others with warmth and kindness.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her children Winnetta McKasson, Carol Stanley, Danita Creswell and Noble Gary Hinckle; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Vivian was preceded in death by husband, Noble Dean Hinckle; daughter Sandra Kay Fitzgerald; father Roy Hammond Crouse and mother Mildred Lee Brannon Crouse; three brothers, Kenneth Gray, John Bruce and Roy Dean Crouse; three sisters, Freda Lorraine McNelly Dean, Betty Lea Miller and Mary Jane Myers; grandson, Edward Johnson; and great grandson, Coty Stanley.
The McComas Funeral Home in Bel Air, Md., is assisting the family during this time.
Vivian’s life and legacy will be remembered for her inspirational and loving nature, her dedication to her family and friends and her passion for baking.
