Work encompasses several parts of the school campus, said Ruppenthal.

“The modernization of the band room and stage area has been undertaken this summer. The removal process, which included the dismantling of outdated levels within the band room will providing greater flexibility for students and staff and will be meeting ADA guidelines.  New flooring has been installed and some painting will complete the project,” she said in a release.

Work has also replaced a hot water system and installed two new energy efficient condensing boilers – what Ruppenthal calls “a vital component in maintaining a comfortable and efficient learning environment throughout the academic year.”

She said the investment in infrastructure shows the school’s “commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.”

In other parts of the school, obsolete computer tables were taken apart, creating more space and flexibility for class activities.

Also on the schedule of improvements is the installation of multiple bottle fillers across the campus, that will let students and staff refill their own reusable water bottles.

“These summer projects represent a significant investment in the future of our school and the well-being of our students,” said Ruppenthal. “These renovations will have a lasting impact on the Hancock Middle Senior High community.”

She said completion of these improvements will make Hancock Middle Senior High School poised to welcome students back to campus that looks and works better for their learning and daily activities.
