Marguerite Louise Unger
1951-2024
Marguerite Louise “Dolly” Unger, age 73, of Mercersburg, Pa., passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Md.
Born July 11, 1951 to the late Lester and Mary Stotler of Great Cacapon, W.Va.
Dolly married Phillip D. Unger, Sr. on May 5, 1957.
Dolly enjoyed going shopping and other places with her sisters, nieces and great nieces. She enjoyed going to the beach or just hanging out by the pool and never missed a Steelers football game. In her spare time, she liked to read and tend to her plants. But mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, playing cards and board games.
She is survived by her son, Phillip Dale Unger, Jr. (Julie); two grandsons, Dakota and Tyler Unger; four sisters, Emma Lee Everett, Phyllis Clingerman, Judy Miller and Darla Ward; one brother, Lester Stotler and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Dale Unger, Sr. and two sisters, Nancy Bernhard and Mary Pryor.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the committed and empathetic medical staff at Meritus Medical Center. Per Dolly’s request, there will be no service and the interment will be private.
A Celebration of Life may be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends may consider donating in her name to Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
