Lucrecia Ann Embrey

Lucrecia Ann “Chris” Embrey, age 87, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Berkeley Springs Healthcare Center.
Born July 26, 1936 in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Dolan Forrest and Denise Marie Souders Thumma.
She was of the Methodist faith. Lucrecia attended public schools in Gaithersburg, Md.
Chris worked with Safeway for 31 years.
She enjoyed shopping, reading western books and doing crafts.
Chris is survived by her children, Paula Jean Breeskin and her husband, Steve of Frederick, Md. and Debra Sue Embrey and her husband, Michael Leis of Elizabeth City, N.C., one sister, Doris Tinsley of Berkeley Springs, one brother, Glenn Thumma of Germantown, Md., seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Edward “Hebe” Embrey, two sisters, Patricia Fields and Betty Crouse and two brothers, James Thumma and Dolan “Sonny” Thumma.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Parkhead Church, 9812 National Pike, Big Pool, Md., with Rev. Steven D. Breeskin. Burial will be in Parkhead Cemetery.
