It’s been a busy week for firefighters in Hancock and the surrounding area as they battled another fire east of Hancock.
Firefighters were called to a house fire in the 14,700 block of White Oak Ridge on Sunday, July 21, around 3 p.m.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshall an occupant of the house heard a crackling noise and saw a glow on the exterior of the residence.
The occupant notified family members who were then able to escape.
Hancock Fire Department arrived in Engine 52 within seven minutes and found the two-story house with fire and smoke showing from all sides.
Engine 52’s crew had the fire knocked on both floors within 15 minutes after arrival.
Clear Spring EMS transported the three occupants to the hospital, according to the Hancock Volunteer Fire Company.
The Fire Marshal said the fire was deemed accidental from an electrical failure of an extension cord in the area of the front porch.
Clear Spring, Berkeley Springs, Needmore, McConnellsburg, Williamsport, and Halfway assisted Hancock at the scene.
The Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire did an estimated $310,000 in damages.
