Judith Ann Grove
1943-2024
Judith Ann “Judy” Grove, beloved wife, devoted mother, and cherished sister, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Born December 18, 1943, in Hagerstown, Md. Judy is preceded in death by her mother and father, Harold W. and Dorothy Gordon Douglas.
She lived most of her life in Hancock, Md. She graduated from Hancock High School in 1962, where she was crowned the school’s first homecoming queen.
Shortly after graduation, Judy married the love of her life, Richard Grove, with whom she shared 62 years of cherished memories. Throughout her life, Judy was known for her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit. She had a passion for music, outdoor gardening, and family gatherings. Her smile could light up a room and her generosity touched the lives of others.
In recent years, Judy faced the challenges of dementia with remarkable grace and courage. Despite the difficulties she continued to inspire those around her with her resilience and strength.
Judy leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Grove, loving children Laura (Richard) Addy and Richie (Carol) Grove, beloved brother Steve (Nancy) Douglas, and niece Amy McCarty. Judy “JuJu” was adored by her grandchildren, Hunter Addy, Alyson Addy, Emma (Jordan) Mellott, and Cooper Grove, as well as her great nephew, Hayden McCarty, and great-grandchildren Kashton and Kolter Mellott.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, Lydia Manning and Bonnie Shoemaker, as well as Hospice of Washington County staff who provided compassionate care to Judy during her illness.
The family received friends on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 W. Main Street, Hancock, Md., 21750. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Damascus Christian Church, 717 Big Cove Tannery Rd, Big Cove Tannery, Pa. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Russell Hoffman will officiate.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, MD.
