The Hancock Branch of Washington County Free Library is hosting summer reading activities for all ages.
July 10-11:30 a.m. Nature Adventure all-ages Storytime. A Nature Adventure edition of our Story Time. The program is geared toward pre-K through K, but during the summer months, older children are welcome to attend and participate.
July 11 – 6 p.m. Shango Mountain Taiko – An Interactive Japanese Taiko Drumming Workshop for all ages. Experience the thunder of Japanese Taiko Drum- ming. Presented by the Shango Mountain Taiko pecussion group, this all-ages interactive program was a big hit last year, so we invited them back for another fun and exciting event! And it’s appropriate for all ages! Due to the volume of this program, it will take place at the Lion’s Club Pavillion in War Memorial Park.
July 12 – 1:30 p.m. The Science Guys of Baltimore. No reservations required, but space is limited, so don’t be late.
July 13 – 12-2 p.m. Decorate a Bamboo Walking Stick. This craft is for ages eight and up. Registration is required.
July 17 – 11:30 a.m. Authentic Community Theater. All welcome.
July 23 – 5:30 p.m. Library Day at Martha’s House: All about Maryland Fur Bearers. A family meal will be served at 5:30, followed by the program and a craft at 6:30.
July 30 – 1:30 p.m. Puppet Show and Bookmobile Visit. Watch a puppet show writ- ten for our summer reading program, along with a Readers Theater.
August 10 – 12-2 p.m. Alcohol Ink Coffee Mug. Create a decorated coffee mug with alcohol ink and a straw. Registration is required.
August 13 – 11:30 a.m. Adventure in Fun Reptile Show. Join the adventure at the Hancock Branch Library and meet snakes, tortoises, lizards, and more. Each child in attendance will receive a take-home craft while supplies last.
August 15 – 1-3 p.m. Summer Reading Wrap-Up: Library Olympics. Organized games and activities for children in grades K-6, along with activities for younger children, and a take-home craft for each participant while supplies last.
All Summer
Go on Walkabout with Sneaks the Library cat. Find out where he’s been around the world, and earn tickets toward our “Dinner and Movie” drawing. Details can be found at the Library.
Who Lives In a Tree? The library has lots of animal visitors to our Library Tree this year. Find at least five of them, and earn a ticket to our “Dinner and a Movie” drawing.
