Ambrose Ernest Ray
1936-2024
Ambrose Ernest Ray, 87, Hancock, Md., went home to be with his Lord on May 8, 2024.
Born December 21, 1936, in Warfordsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Charley and Pearl (Imes) Ray, and the husband of Delores Ray.
He was a 1954 graduate of Southern Fulton High School.
He retired from Mack Truck in 1995, after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Hancock Grange. He was active in attending Buck Valley Christian Church.
He served in the Army Reserves.
He was active as a leader in the Boy Scouts.
His hobbies included working in his garage and boating, camping and fishing with his boys.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Delores; three sons, Lloyd and Roberta, Michael and Laura, and Tim and Christy; four grandchildren, Steven (Heather) Ray, Chantey (Chuck) Hutzel, Timothy (Danielle) Ray and Cierra (Weylin) Mitchel; six great-grandchildren, Vivian, Bailey, Blake, Hunter, Zoey and Alice; two sisters, Virginia Schriever and Maxine Vanorsdale; a sister-in-law, Shirley Ray; and a brother-in-law, Gary Wills.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer Ray; his sister Jeanette Wills; two brothers-in-law Melvin Vanorsdale and Darl Schriever; and a daughter-in-law, Brenda (Sipes) Ray.
The family received friends, Friday, May 10, 2024, 6-8 p.m., at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main St, Hancock, Md. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 2 p.m., at Buck Valley Christian Church, 2281 Harmonia Road, Warfordsburg, Pa. Pastor Bill Croteau officiated. Burial followed services in the adjoining church cemetery.
